What if the thing holding you back isn't what you think?

Jun 05, 2026

Most people think progress comes from adding more.

More workouts.
More motivation.
More discipline.
More information.

But after years of teaching yoga, coaching athletes, and working with thousands of people, I've noticed something different.

The biggest breakthroughs usually happen when someone finally pays attention to something they've been overlooking.

Not the obvious thing. The small thing. The foundational thing. The thing that has quietly been influencing everything else.

This week, that idea showed up while watching Kinndli's new Yoga Lab on foot and ankle health.

I'll be honest.

Foot mobility isn't exactly the sexiest topic in the world.

It's rare for someone to wake up and say: "You know what I need today? Better ankle function."

But here's the interesting part.

Your feet are your first connection to the ground.

Every step.
Every squat.
Every balance pose.
Every run.
Every yoga class.

If that foundation isn't moving well, the rest of your body spends energy compensating.

And that's not just true physically.

It's true in life too.

We spend a lot of time looking for the next breakthrough.

The next book.
The next habit.
The next system.

Meanwhile, the thing that would create the biggest change is often something small we've been ignoring for months.

Maybe it's sleep. Maybe it's drinking water. Maybe it's having a difficult conversation. Maybe it's taking six minutes to work on your feet.

The point isn't the feet. The point is paying attention. Because growth rarely comes from doing everything. It usually comes from finally doing the thing you've been avoiding.
